Twist serves an elegant California style menu with a notable Asian influence. KILLER SHRIMP
Killer Shrimp is one of a chain of three, and unlike some restaurants who try to do it all, the proprietors boast of the fact that all they do is make killer shrimp. The sauce is everything, the spiciest and tastiest sauce you'll ever experience. When you order, the shrimp are added to the sauce and cooked quickly and you're soon served the mouthwatering shrimp along with a piping hot loaf of French bread for dunking. It's a killer! Wine by the bottle or glass is served, as well as beer.

DIDDY RIESE COOKIES
All during the day but especially around midnight, you'll see a long line of students here, and it's not for financial aid. Chocolate-white-chocolate, macadamia nut (these are 45 cents), oatmeal raisin or M&M, if you can put it in cookies, chances are its here. Choose any two cookies and the friendly staff will sandwich a generous slab of ice cream between them for just a buck plus change.

HOT WINGS CAFE
This may look like a modest neighborhood place, but looks can certainly be deceiving. This place draws its enthusiastic fans from all over the city—and state, for that matter. It sports a full menu of sandwiches and sides, but the bustling crowd is there for the wings, served mild, hot or extra hot (call the fire department!). Plenty of the house bleu cheese dressing, carrots and celery are provided as well. This cafe is a favorite of locals and a must-visit for tourists.

Since 1918, this place has been serving the best French-dipped sandwiches in the world. That seems logical because it was the original Philippe who claims to have invented the juicy concoction nearly 100 years ago. ROSCOE'S HOUSE OF CHICKEN 'N' WAFFLES
File this one under 'guilty pleasures'. It sounds strange to combine chicken and waffles on the same plate, but you've got to try it. It's out of this world good. Sure, it's high in cholesterol but sometimes you just have to live. This down-home Southern stop also offers grits and all the soul-food accoutrements, including black-eyed peas, all kinds of greens and more. Thank heaven for wet-naps. The manager says "Come once and you'll be back for more."
